Home Panel Solar Politics

After recently reading a New York Times article, we started thinking about home panel solar politics.  You see, although solar power is gaining popularity as a renewable energy solution for home, it will never become mainstream without the backing from the federal government. A poll by the Nuclear Power Industry revealed that the number one choice for generating power was not from nuclear, coal or natural gas, but from solar energy. However, at the time the poll was taken solar only provided fo

Taking (Food) Out (of) The Trash

Here’s one more reason not to waste food: spare your garbageman the mess. The few days after Christmas, trash volume increases greatly, in some cases even doubling. Wrapping, packaging and cardboard make up a large portion of that mess. But just like those materials should be recycled, so should food. This means composting or feeding it to animals (worms, goats, dogs, hogs, etc.). Actually, the best case scenario would be reducing your excess food and/or reusing the leftovers to avoid throwin

Telegraph: 2008 was the year man-made global warming was disproved *

The Telegraph 29.12.2008 By Christopher Booker Looking back over my columns of the past 12 months, one of their major themes was neatly encapsulated by two recent items from The Daily Telegraph. The first, on May 21, headed “Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts” , reported that the entire Alpine “winter sports

The EPA plans to tax cow farts

Every day there are probably millions of silly ideas bantered about by people all over the world. 99.9% of those ideas never see the light of day. But once in a while an idea so colossally stupid, one which beggars the very definition of idiocy, comes forth and no amount of ridicule can stop it from becoming the law of the land. The United States Government plans to impose a tax on cow farts. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed taxing cows as a way to regulate greenhous

Let the bashing begin…

Let the bashing begin… From: www.newsmax.com Democrats Embody Hypocrisy By: David Limbaugh Wednesday, September 3, 2008 Liberals are outraged at the supposed hypocrisy of Sarah Palin (and conservatives) for supporting abstinence-only education and family values generally in light of revelations concerning the pregnancy of her teenage daughter. It’s only fair, then, that they should be called upon to explain their own hypocrisy in the compassion, privacy, gender, and race departments. Libe

Concert Tours Post Records In Our Rotten Economy

As further proof of how rotten our economy isn’t, the concert industry posted a record year in 2008. With the way Democrats are talking about everyone losing their jobs and their homes, how come people are paying record prices to attend concerts? Maybe the economy isn’t as bad as the Democrats are saying it is.  Nobody can dispute that we are in a recession.  But economic contractions are a normal part of economic cycles.  They always have been and probably always will be.  The economy grows

‘Airport malaria risk rising with global warming

Global warming is raising the risk for infection with so-called ”airport malaria” in malaria-free zones of the United States and Europe, researchers warn. Here‘s how it happens, as the scientists explain it: Mosquitoes make their way on to planes in tropical regions, and at the end of a flight can escape into the increasingly warmer climates of developed countries, where they now have a better chance of surviving and proliferating. ”The real problem with malaria is that it is not rare,” sai

Quick, get me some water

There’s been a growing amount of attention focused on alternative energy for vehicles. Much of that talk has placed emphasis on pure electric cars, hybrid electric cars and ethanol based solutions. I’m certainly not the expert on alternative energy but as a consumer, and a car enthusiast, I’m disappointed at the direction (or misdirection) of where tomorrows cars might look like. At the 2008 Concorso Italiano in Monterey, I was able to immerse in almost 100 years of automotive progress. It’s a

Who is Being Facile?

I very seldom go wallowing about responding to comments in my comment threads.  As I have posted before, I try to learn from criticisms in the comments and improve or modify my positions next time I post on a similar subject.  Besides, I would lose my life to playing the troll game on climate issues. However, I am sitting at home with some time on my hands and thought I would address a representative critical comment, from this post on the sun.  Take this post as evidence, I guess, that I am p

Future’s Made of Virtual Insanity…..

Future’s Made of Virtual Insanity….. Sorry for the lateness, but the past few days have been chaos as you’ll see. Christmas Eve started out very not good. Just got dumped on at least a foot of snow, and although it was a White Christmas, it made travelling a total chaotic piece of Dung! Although living and staying out in Steveston has it’s advantages, this snow dumping is NOT one of them! The biggest issue is that my bro lives 6 blocks away from the major road, and the snow ploughs and s
